So after months  of  dedicated training from all the runners and months of hard work from the Omagh Half Marathon

committee everyone is now set for the 27th Spar Omagh Half Marathon on Saturday26th March.

We have listed below a few things for the build up to race day you should be familiar with and to help you get around the

Thursday  24th  5pm – 8pm

Friday       25th  5pm – 8pm

Saturday  26th   8am – 10am

Entries for both races will now be accepted up until 10am on race day, however we can not guarantee half marathon

runners the t-shirt of their selected size.

The race chip this year will be built into your race number ( so no worries about having to attach or remove from your shoe ) !

Allow yourself enough time to prepare properly for your race. Remember new start times for all races this year.

There will be four water stations on the half marathon course.

T & F at 3 miles

Riverview at 5 1/2 miles

Killyclogher  at 8 miles ( also services the 5K course )

Cappagh 10 1/2 miles

Both courses will be marked with appropriate mile / kilometre markers.

We would ask  all runners to please  pay special attention to Knocknamoe Road, as the two races briefly

come together  on this narrow stretch of road and the lead car for the half marathon will be coming through

ahead of  the half marathon runners.

Remember all roads will be open during the race and we hope all runners and motorists respect the requests of

the race marshals and the PSNI to help the event pass off as smoothly as possible.

Marshals are requested to please attend a final briefing in the Leisure Complex on Friday 25th at 8pm

and to collect their packs.

The race is obviously going to cause traffic congestion around the town on a busy Easter Saturday. The traffic

will be effected around the town  from 10 am to 3 pm but mainly round the main hub of the event on the Old

Mountfield Road and at the Leisure Complex. The peak times and areas are expected to be as follows :

11am – 11:15am  Omagh Main Street

11am – 12:30pm Swinging Bars Roundabout

11:20am  – 1pm  Killyclogher area

11:50am – 1:30pm  Gortin Road area to Omagh Leisure Complex

Please remember there is post race tea and coffee and lots of food available to replace those

calories burnt on the course which will be served in the main hall where registration was. There will also be post

race massages available.

Finally all that’s left is to wish everyone a good race and hope every one achieves their  target they have set themselves,

whether  it be to run a  personal best, or to get round the course or raising money for their dedicated charity. Remember to

encourage your family and friends to get out  on the streets and encourage everyone round the course and make it a

good atmosphere and a day to remember  for the runners of the 27th Spar Omagh Half Marathon.
